In this 1896 letter, the 3rd Earl Nelson recreates in ink the flags of Trafalgar's most enduring message. After mistakenly painting the wrong design on the wall of the 'Nelson Room' at his home, Trafalgar, in Salisbury, Horatio Nelson, DL (7 August 1823 – 25 February 1913) updates his cousin, Louisa Harriet Eyre Purvis (née Matcham, 1827-1915) on the changes he needs to make.
