Daniel Garrett Esq., at Southwick, to Capt. John Child Purvis, commanding HMS Dreadnought. The pencil underlining of certain paragraphs in this and other letters was done by Admiral JCP in December 1818 before presenting them to Richard as evidence that it was his determination to leave the Navy and go to India in the first place.
