Description
A single-sheet handwritten pedigree tracing the royal descent of Louisa Harriet Eyre Purvis from Edward I (d. 1307) through multiple lines, converging on the Matcham and Purvis families in the nineteenth century. The document traces four distinct descent routes from Edward I, including lines through the Bohun, Mowbray, Howard, and Butler families, through Mary Boleyn and Sir William Carey, and through John of Gaunt and the Beaufort and Spencer families, before converging on Robert Suckling (Sheriff of Norfolk) and Sarah Shelton. The descent then continues through the Revd Maurice Suckling to Catherine Nelson — identified in the notes as a sister of Admiral Viscount Nelson — and thence to George Matcham and Louisa Purvis. Seventeen explanatory notes are appended at foot. Compiler and date not stated; handwriting suggests mid-to-late nineteenth century. Physical condition: folded, with light foxing and a small area of surface loss to upper right corner.
