Description
Friendly thank-you letter following a morning visit to Mr and Mrs Purvis, enclosing a hand-copied note (with pen sketch of the shield) from Devon & Cornwall Notes & Queries, vol. VIII pt ii, April 1914, p. 57, describing a fifteenth-century window at Kingskerswell Church bearing argent a saltire engrailed between four leopards' faces or, within a bordure engrailed sable. The arms had been examined by H. Farnham Burke, Somerset Herald, who was unable to identify them. Pershouse notes that the tinctures and bordure differ from the Purvis arms.
